«…Le generazioni future si meraviglieranno, attonite, di come agli inizi del XXI secolo il mondo sviluppato sia stato colpito da un panico isterico per un aumento della temperatura a livello mondiale di pochi decimi di grado e di come, sulla base di grossolane esagerazioni nelle proiezioni fatte al computer, abbia potuto profetizzare la necessità di un totale rovesciamento dell’era industriale». In queste parole del fisico dell’atmosfera Richard Lindzen sta tutta la follia delle Conferenze sul clima, di cui quella di Parigi apertasi ieri è la 21esima.

Lindzen è uno dei massimi esperti mondiali in materia di clima, è stato anche uno degli autori principali del Terzo Rapporto dell’IPPC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), l’organismo pseudo-scientifico che ogni sei-sette anni sforna un voluminoso e dettagliatissimo rapporto sull’evoluzione del clima, il cui unico scopo è quello di fornire elementi a suffragio del catastrofismo climatico. Lindzen – come tanti altri scienziati – ha dato il suo contributo pensando che lo scopo fosse davvero scientifico, ma una volta realizzato che si trattava di pura strumentalizzazione della scienza a fini politici se ne andò spiegando come stanno le cose. Tanti altri hanno percorso lo stesso itinerario, ma di questo non passa molto sui media, tutti unanimemente schierati alla ricerca di chi la spara più grossa: alcuni per militanza, altri per conformismo, i più per puro interesse economico essendo che le notizie catastrofiche e le profezie di sventura fanno vendere di più.

Eppure, come abbiamo già dimostrato in diversi articoli in questi giorni – compreso quello odierno di Francesco Ramella – non è così difficile mettere in discussione miti e luoghi comuni sul clima. Ma tant’è, evidentemente ci sono interessi ideologici ed economici talmente forti dallo sconsigliare l’uso della ragione. Così dal 1995 ogni anno di questi tempi siamo costretti a sorbirci una COP, una conferenza delle parti per trovare un accordo improbabile. E ogni volta è la stessa liturgia a base di rapporti che prevedono catastrofi imminenti, proiezioni terrificanti sull’andamento del clima, e via di questo passo. E anche quest’anno, per la ventunesima volta siamo di fronte a «l’ultima chiamata», «o adesso o sarà troppo tardi», «siamo al punto di non ritorno».

La pressione propagandistica è talmente forte che anche i vertici della Chiesa ci sono andati dietro. Purtroppo. Si scambia il rispetto per il Creato, la sua salvaguardia, con la lotta ai cambiamenti climatici, i quali cambiamenti ad ogni buon conto fanno parte dell’ordine stabilito da Dio. È sconcertante vedere cardinali, patriarchi, vescovi, rappresentanti della Santa Sede e delle conferenze episcopali di tutto il mondo, firmare (lo scorso 26 ottobre) un appello ai capi di Stato perché si impegnino con accordi vincolanti a non superare i 2°C di aumento delle temperature rispetto all’età pre-industriale (evidentemente anche loro credono che la Terra abbia un termostato per regolare la temperatura a nostro piacimento).

Non solo, nello stesso appello i vescovi di tutto il mondo chiedono la fine totale dei combustibili fossili entro il 2050, roba che viene da parafrasare ciò che a suo tempo disse Gesù: «Padre, perdona loro perché non sanno quello che dicono». Ma molto peggio è stato vedere nei giorni scorsi episcopati di tutto il mondo impegnati a mobilitare i cattolici per marciare contro i cambiamenti climatici (provate a fare un paragone con il comportamento dell’episcopato italiano per la marcia dello scorso 20 giugno a Roma quando c’era da difendere i nostri figli). Addirittura, in una lettera a tutti gli episcopati del mondo il presidente del Pontificio Consiglio Giustizia e Pace, cardinale Peter Turkson, ha invitato non solo a partecipare il 29 novembre alla Marcia globale per il clima, definita «un vero esercizio di cittadinanza ecologica mondiale» (ma che significa?); ha addirittura chiesto che le messe del 29 novembre in tutto il mondo avessero come intenzione la buona riuscita della Cop21.

E infatti, non pochi cattolici, anche in Italia, nell’omelia della prima domenica di Avvento si sono visti rifilare un predicozzo sui cambiamenti climatici. Così che questo periodo di attesa per la nascita di Cristo è stato trasformato nell’attesa dell’accordo di Parigi, si spera nei capi di Stato per la salvezza del Pianeta invece che nel Salvatore di noi poveri uomini. A rafforzare questo messaggio ci si è messo ieri nella conferenza stampa anche Papa Francesco che, a proposito di cambiamenti climatici, ha detto che «siamo al limite del suicidio». E meno male che anche da Parigi – così come per i vent’anni precedenti – non uscirà quell’accordo fondamentale invocato, al massimo un accordicchio, altrimenti avremmo dovuto subire anche lo scampanio globale a festa, in onore di Madre Terra.

Una mobilitazione del genere da parte dei vertici della Chiesa, con appelli congiunti da tutti gli episcopati del mondo, non se ne erano mai visti, neanche per questioni che ci si aspetterebbe un po’ più urgenti, come la persecuzione dei cristiani (tocca a 150 milioni nel mondo, 100mila uccisi ogni anno) o la difesa della vita (solo di aborti sono 50 milioni l’anno). No, queste cose meglio evitarle, sono temi divisivi. Il clima invece ci unisce con tutti, ci fa sentire tutti fratelli. E guai a ricordare che in realtà Gesù ci aveva detto “Andate e annunciate” e non “Emettete meno anidride carbonica”: sei un fondamentalista, sei più o meno come l’Isis.

Tutti in piazza dunque a marciare per il clima e in chiesa a pregare per un successo a Parigi. Noi no, però. Noi continueremo ad andare in chiesa a pregare che Cristo venga nella nostra vita e ci liberi dal peccato. E anche da questa follia collettiva.
