E in collegamento a ciò, anche il concetto della fratellanza si allarga e si amplia, diventa analogico e metaforico e, oltre ad esprimere alcune note presenti nel concetto di figliolanza, evoca l’idea di parità nella diversità, di complementarità reciproca su di un piede di uguaglianza, nella comune dipendenza dai genitori.

Si riconosce solo la paternità biologica, ma si nega quella morale, perché la si identifica con la tirannia. Noi cristiani, secondo il Corano, abbiamo tradito il monoteismo, che pure è rimasto fra gli Ebrei, e siamo caduti nel politeismo, lasciandoci ingannare da Gesù, che aggiunse empiamente se stesso come un altro Dio, al Dio di Abramo creatore del cielo e della terra, con la pretesa di considerarsi “suo Figlio” e di chiamare Dio “suo Padre”, mentre Mosè dice che non c’è altro Dio all’infuori di Jahvè. Maometto non fa altro che confermare la fede di Abramo e di Mosè nel vero ed unico Dio. Gli Ebrei hanno avuto ragione a respingere la pretesa di Gesù di essere Dio. Il loro errore è quello di considerare Mosè al di sopra di Maometto.

E per converso, è noto che, per i musulmani, noi cristiani, a parte il fatto evidentemente da loro riconosciuto che anche noi apparteniamo alla medesima specie umana, non possono considerarci loro “fratelli”, ma ai loro occhi, proprio in quanto cristiani, siamo degli empi e degli infedeli, anche se con alcuni di essi il dialogo interreligioso non è impossibile.
Notiamo adesso che l’idea che la divinità possa avere un Figlio non fa difficoltà nel politeismo, nel quale la divinità viene immaginata in modo grossolanamente antropomorfico. Ma la ragione non sospetta assolutamente che il Dio vero ed unico, Spirito assoluto ed infinito, possa generare un Figlio della sua stessa natura, e da Lui personalmente distinto, secondo quanto crede la religione cristiana; e per conseguenza, non immagina la possibilità che il credente in questo Figlio incarnato, che è Gesù Cristo, partecipi per grazia alla stessa figliolanza di Cristo, divenendo a sua volta, per partecipazione, figlio di Dio, secondo quanto insegna S.Pietro (II Pt 1,4).
Per comprendere, infatti, come in Dio ci sia un Padre che genera un figlio, e quindi per avere un concetto del Figlio, che non sia un altro dio, diverso dal Padre e quindi non intacchi il monoteismo, bisogna capire che cosa la fede intende col termine “Figlio”.
E’ chiaro che Dio non può generare nel senso biologico. “Figlio”, allora, va preso in un senso analogico e tuttavia proprio, – quindi non in senso metaforico come dice Hegel – perché soddisfa alla definizione generale di “figlio” come “vivente che origina dal vivente della stessa specie”. Ora appunto il Figlio è Deum de Deo, consustanziale al Padre, della stessa natura, sostanza o essenza divina del Padre. Un unico Dio in tre persone.

Da qui la necessità di concepire il Verbo come persona, non certo univocamente a come noi siamo persone, ma analogicamente, perché noi siamo sostanze, ma in quanto relazione sussistente al Padre.
E da qui la sostanza dell’annuncio cristiano consistente nella possibilità di diventare, in Cristo, figli di Dio: “A quanti l’hanno accolto, ha dato il potere di diventare figli di Dio, a quelli che credono nel suo nome, i quali non da sangue, né da volere di uomo, ma da Dio sono stati generati” (Gv 1,12-13). In Giovanni ricorre più volte l’espressione: coloro che sono “nati da Dio” (I Gv 2,29; 3,9; 5,1.4.18).

Cristo resta l’Unigenito del Padre; per cui solo Cristo può dire al Padre “Padre mio”. Eppure, col battesimo il Padre celeste diventa Padre di tutti i credenti, Che Gesù chiama “Padre vostro”. E per questo, il cristiano può invocare Dio come “Padre nostro”.
Da ciò si ricava che l’esser cristiano coincide con l’essere figlio di Dio. E viceversa, figlio di Dio è solo il cristiano e comunque chi vive in grazia, anche se non conosce Cristo. Se dunque è vero che non tutti sono cristiani, dobbiamo dire che non tutti sono figli di Dio. Tuttavia, un cristiano in peccato mortale è meno figlio di Dio che un non-cristiano in buona fede, che è in grazia senza saperlo.
Tutti siamo chiamati ad esser figli di Dio. Ma non tutti lo siamo di fatto, perché non tutti crediamo in Cristo, o implicitamente o esplicitamente.
