Chi controlla il presente controlla il passato. &#8211; George Orwell 1984&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">George Orwell a soli 19 anni era entrato nella polizia imperiale inglese, a 33 aveva poi combattuto con i marxisti-trotzkisti nella guerra civile spagnola, due anni dopo dovette fuggire perch&eacute; il Partito Comunista spagnolo li aveva dichiarati fuorilegge. Ne sapeva molto sugli strumenti del potere, aveva ben chiaro che la riscrittura del passato &egrave; determinante per orientare le masse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I mezzi con i quali si forma l&#8217;orientamento delle masse vanno dai testi scolastici ad istituzioni culturali che per la loro autorevolezza hanno una notevole influenza sulla coscienza collettiva. ? rilevante ad esempio la ricaduta di iniziative come quella portata avanti da <b style=\"\">National Gographic<\/b> nel 2006 quando fu pubblicata la traduzione in italiano del &#8220;Vangelo di Giuda&#8221;, testo gnostico datato intorno al 130 \/170 d.C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Il Vangelo di Giuda propone una riscrittura del Nuovo Testamento nella quale si sostiene che sia stato lo stesso Ges&ugrave; a chiedere<span style=\"\">  <\/span>a Giuda di tradirlo, questo avrebbe indicato nella morte l&#8217;unica liberazione dal Dio della Bibbia che tiene gli uomini schiavi, prigionieri del loro corpo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Evidentemente quel testo ha lo stessa attendibilit&agrave; che avrebbe una vita di Hitler scritta nel 2045, un secolo dopo la sua morte, e nella quale si dicesse che Adolf Hitler in realt&agrave; era un agente britannico e che il suo vero scopo era di trascinare la Germania in una guerra rovinosa che avrebbe dovuto perdere per favorire l&#8217;impero inglese.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Ovviamente una rivelazione del genere non avrebbe alcuna credibilit&agrave; presso una testata autorevole. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Il &#8220;Vangelo di Giuda&#8221; a quanto pare s&igrave;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">National Geographic &egrave; stato fondato nel 1933 da <b>Gardiner Greene Hubbard<\/b>, il suo secondo presidente fu il genero, quell&#8217; <b>Alexander Graham Bell, <\/b><span style=\"\">noto nel mondo anglosassone per l&#8217;invenzione del telefono (che venne negata a Meucci) e meno noto per essere stato un <b>fervente sostenitore dell&#8217;eugenetica<\/b>. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><b>La scienza in ambito anglosassone &egrave; in genere di orientamento positivista<\/b><span style=\"\"> e il fatto che un presidente del National Geographic fosse un sostenitore dell&#8217;eugenetica non pu&ograve; sorprendere chi conosce il clima culturale del XIX secolo.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">Se episodi come quello del Vangelo di Giuda possono essere relativamente sporadici &egrave; invece profondamente radicata e persistente l&#8217;idea di un passato oscurantista dal quale saremmo stati liberati proprio dalla scienza positivista, un interessante esempio di questo &egrave; possibile trovarlo nel numero di luglio 2010 di &#8220;<b>Storica<\/b>&#8220;, rivista del <span style=\"\"> <\/span><span style=\"\"> <\/span><b>National Geographic<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">In un articolo su <b>Niccol&ograve; Copernico<\/b><span style=\"\">  <\/span>viene affermato infatti che la teoria eliocentrica non fu presa in grande considerazione: <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><b><i style=\"\">&#8220;&#8230;tanto pi&ugrave; che il pi&ugrave; famoso astronomo dei primi secoli dell&#8217;era cristiana, l&#8217;alessandrino Claudio Tolomeo (100 circa &#8211; 175 circa), stabil&igrave; inequivocabilmente che al centro di tutto vi fosse la Terra<\/i>.&#8221; <\/b><span style=\"\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">? facile, dopo aver letto questa frase, farsi l&#8217;idea che sia stata una idea cristiana quella di rifiutare definitivamente il sistema eliocentrico e di porre la Terra al centro dell&#8217;Universo. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">Basterebbe per&ograve; specificare che Claudio Tolomeo, che era famoso anche per aver scritto &#8220;<b><i style=\"\">Le previsioni astrologiche<\/i><\/b>&#8221; non era cristiano e <span style=\"\"> <\/span>che nel secondo secolo il cristianesimo era mal tollerato nell&#8217;impero romano e che<span style=\"\">  <\/span>quindi non avrebbe potuto influenzare il pensiero del mondo culturale dell&#8217;epoca.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><span style=\"\"> <\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">Basterebbe ricordare al lettore che la Terra al centro dell&#8217;Universo era un&#8217;idea affermatasi con Aristotele<span style=\"\">  <\/span>nella Grecia del IV secolo a.C., che si trattava dunque di una convinzione totalmente precristiana, per non indurre nell&#8217;equivoco fondante la leggenda dell&#8217;oscurantismo cristiano. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">Che si intenda al contrario generare la convinzione di un oscurantismo cristiano antiscientifico viene confermato dalle ultime righe dell&#8217;articolo, riferito alla teoria del prete polacco Niccol&ograve; copernico, in cui si legge:<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><b>&#8220;Era nata la teoria eliocentrica che, nonostante la fortissima opposizione della Chiesa cattolica, si avvi&ograve; a diventare il fondamento della scienza moderna&#8221;<o:p><\/o:p><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">Ecco dunque confermata l&#8217;idea che fu la Chiesa ad opporsi ad un eliocentrismo che sembrerebbe invece ben accolto nel resto d&#8217;Europa.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">Peccato per&ograve; che fosse stato Martin Lutero il primo a condannare l&#8217;eliocentrismo affermando che Copernico era <\/span><span style=\"font-family: \"Arial\",\"sans-serif\";\">&#8220;<\/span><span style=\"\">uno sciocco che intendeva mettere sottosopra l&#8217;intera scienza dell&#8217;astronomia<\/span><span style=\"font-family: \"Arial\",\"sans-serif\";\">&#8220;<a title=\"\" name=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\" style=\"\"><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"\"><!--[if !supportFootnotes]--><span class=\"MsoFootnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: \"Calibri\",\"sans-serif\";\">[6]<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><\/span><\/span><\/a><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">che insomma la Chiesa cattolica nel &#8216;500 sia stata disponibile ad accogliere le idee del sacerdote Copernico e che fu invece tutto il mondo culturale e scientifico del XV secolo e dell&#8217;inizio del XVI ad opporre una forte resistenza all&#8217;idea che fosse la Terra a girare intorno al Sole.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">Ma dire questo significherebbe essere costretti a fare chiarezza su cosa veramente fu il processo a Galilei, a farla senza cadere nei luoghi comuni inventati dalla fantasia di Bertold Brecht e ripetuti come fossero verit&agrave;, cosa che evidentemente ci piacerebbe vedere sulle Pagine di National Geographic. Restiamo in paziente attesa.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">Parlando della riscrittura del passato, ci soffermiamo ancora un po&#8217; sulla leggenda della &#8220;papessa Giovanna&#8221; riproposta in un film, gli ultimi dubbi riguardo al suo utilizzo come strumento di riscrittura del passato vengono tolti<span style=\"\">  <\/span>dalla raccomandazione di History Channel alla visione del film, infatti nella pubblicit&agrave; apparsa sui giornali appare la dicitura &#8220;<b>Consigliato da History Channel<\/b>&#8221; insieme ad una che afferma &#8220;<b>Il film che racconta uno dei pi&ugrave; grandi segreti della chiesa<\/b>&#8220;. Come pu&ograve; una leggenda grossolana essere passata come fatto storico e raccomandata da un canale tematico di storia?<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">Fatto sta che l&#8217;alterazione del passato inizia a dare i suoi frutti, nella cittadina laziale di Anzio &egrave; stato posto un monumento a Nerone, una statua di bronzo la cui realizzazione &egrave; stata motivata dal sindaco Luciano Bruschini secondo il quale il fatto che fu egli<span style=\"\">  <\/span>a causare l&#8217;incendio di Roma sarebbe solo frutto di &#8220;<span class=\"testoarticolog\"><b>ridicole ricostruzioni <\/b><\/span><\/span><span class=\"testoarticolog\"><b style=\"\">storiche e cinematografiche&#8230; A distanza di venti secoli, finalmente &#8211; scrive Bruschini -, gli storici seri stanno rivalutando la figura di Nerone: un grande imperatore, amato dal suo popolo, per le
