le immagini dei manifesti pubblicitari raffiguranti Benedetto XVI, nella posa di baciare un Imam musulmano, non possono lasciarci impassibili.
L’indifferenza è una forma di complicità al male. Anzi, ci rende protagonisti del male gratuito inferto alla persona stessa del Papa. L’uso irriverente e dissacrante del volto del Santo Padre è un atto non solo offensivo per i credenti, per i quali Egli è “il dolce Cristo in terra”, ma per la dignità di ogni persona la cui immagine non può essere manipolata e abusata a puri scopi commerciali (per questo irrispettosa anche di tutti gli altri malcapitati protagonisti della meschina campagna pubblicitaria).
Tanto più che – a detta di un membro della famiglia – “l’obiettivo della campagna è contrastare la cultura dell’odio”. L’ipocrisia di tale atteggiamento offensivo esige una ferma risposta da parte di quanti sono stanchi di provocazioni contro la fede e la dignità della persona umana. L’immediato ritiro dell’immagine non attenua l’azienda Benetton di un’enorme responsabilità morale. Mentre assicuriamo al Santo Padre la nostra preghiera per la sofferenza inferta, è nostro intendimento cessare ogni volontà d’acquisto dei prodotti a marchio Benetton.
